Jim was my father in law for nearly forty years. He was a self reliant man, who even in the final stages of his life made no demands on anyone but himself. When he became totally dependent on Keith and Mark, he said it was a ‘catastrophe’ – meaning he had to give in to his illness and depend on them. Jim had a very positive outlook on life – the day he was told he had cancer, he said that he had never really been unhappy, choosing to reflect back on his life rather than dwell on his illness. He lived for the day and made the most of what life gave him; and where things didn’t go to plan, he moved on with no regrets, looking forward all the time. I will miss Jim but reflect back on his life as one well lived. Deborah
